[Comp-neuro] Neurovision Film Contest 2012

For the second time we ask: "Can you show us the invisible?"

Through the brain we think, through the brain we feel. But how does it
work? For decades, neuroscience has been one of the busiest areas of
science and one of the most fascinating to outsiders and scientists
alike, yet still, only bits of new findings reach the general public.
Are you a film student interested in neuroscience? Are you a scientist
interested in showing your insights to a broader public and do that in
the form of film?

If your answer is "yes", then enter the Neurovision Film Contest and win
an award for the best visualisation of neuroscience!

*Conditions*

* The film has to deal with a topic of neuroscience - which one and how
you adress it is up to you.
* It has to be in English (or with English subtitles).
* It may not be longer than 5 minutes.
* You must own the rights to all parts of the film, or they must be
licensed under a Creative Commons agreement that allows derivative works.
* Two awards will be given: one for the most creative handling of the
topic and one for the greatest informational value.
* Winning films will each get 500 Euros.
* Submissions can be made from July 15th to August 15th on a website
arranged for this purpose.

The films will be screened throughout the Bernstein Conference. Both the
audience (all participants of the Bernstein Conference) as well as a
jury composed of media and film science representatives will cast their
vote.

* Markus A. Dahlem (neuroscientist and authour of the science blog
Graue Substanz )
* Robin Greene (film maker and journalist, On3 )
* Armin Olbrich (managing editor for the sciences, Bayrischer Rundfunk )
* Florian Rau (director of last year's winning film, The Brain
Modulator)
* Markus Schulte von Drach (author and science journalist,
Sueddeutsche Zeitung )

Two prizes will be awarded during a special session of the conference:
One for the most creative handling of the topic and one for the greatest
informational value.
