Postdoctoral position to study the neural basis of visual decision-making under uncertainty
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to study the neural basis of visual decision-making under uncertainty, jointly between the laboratories of Dr. Andreas Tolias (http://toliaslab.wordpress.com/) and Dr. Wei Ji Ma (http://neuro.bcm.edu/malab) in the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. The NSF-funded project will integrate high-density electrophysiological recordings in awake, behaving primates with psychophysics, mathematical modeling, and two-photon imaging. The project aims to utilize the theoretical framework of probabilistic inference to understand the connection between behavior and neural activity.
Applicants should have experience in neural recordings, a strong mathematical or computational background, and experience with programming (Matlab, C++, etc.).
Applicants should send a CV and a statement of interest to Andreas Tolias at atolias@cns.bcm.edu or Wei Ji Ma at wjma@bcm.edu , and arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address. Consideration of applications will begin immediately and will end when the position is filled. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Baylor College of Medicine is an equal-opportunity, affirmative-action, and equal-access Employer.
Wei Ji Ma will be available at the Cosyne conference to meet with those interested.
