20th International Symposium on Methodologies for Intelligent Systems

ISMIS is an established and prestigious conference for exchanging the latest research results in building intelligent systems for diverse application areas. It focuses on AI solutions to problems that are complex to be solved through conventional approaches and that require the simulation of intelligent thought processes, heuristics and applications of knowledge, as well as integration of them.
The Programme Committee of ISMIS'12 invites proposals for workshops to be held within the main conference December 4-7, 2012 at Macau.
ISMIS'12 workshops are to provide a forum for sharing cutting-edge and novel intelligent systems research works. The emphasis should be on novelty and thus works with novel ideas but only preliminary results as support in principle should also be welcome and encouraged. The theme of the proposed workshop can be focusing on i) novel and non-conventional methodologies to enable intelligent systems for solving complex problems, ii) intelligent systems applying to a specific areas of real-world problems which are of high important to human kind in this era (e.g., healthcare, education), iii) intelligent systems specially designed for running on newly emerging computing platform (e.g., GPU, smart phones), or other dimensions of focus (either theoretical or applied) which are emerging in the field of intelligent systems and worth more discussion among researchers as well as participants from industry.
The workshop organizers will be responsible for advertising the workshop, forming the program committees, reviewing and selecting the papers, and ensuring a high quality of the workshop programme. Also, the workshop organizers should ensure the presence of authors of accepted papers at the workshops. Optionally, the workshop can include invited talks and/or a panel discussion.
Workshops may be full-day or half-day. A full-day workshop should select 10-14 regular papers, while a half-day workshop should select 5-7 regular papers, from a large number of submissions. The workshop organizers can make their own decisions on paper length but it is recommended that the author should follow the Springer formatting style which can be found at http://www.springer.com/authors/book+authors?SGWID=0-154102-12-417900-0. There will NOT be a proceeding prepared for the workshops, and thus the workshop organizers are expected to maintain a web site with the accepted papers posted there. In addition, authors of selected workshop papers will be invited (after the workshop) to extend their papers for the consideration of publishing in a book in ** Springer's Studies in Computational Intelligence series **.

Workshop organizers should submit their proposals (PDF) directly to the Workshop Chair via e-mail.
Workshop proposals should include the following elements:
- "[ISMIS 2012 Workshop Proposal]" as email subject
- Title of the workshop
- Names of workshop organizers, affiliation, mailing address and e-mail address
- Short CV of organizers
- Description of the topics of the workshop (not exceeding 200 words)
- Type of the workshop (full-day or half-day)
- Description of how the workshop contributes to Intelligent Systems field
- Description on how the workshop will be advertised
- Information about previous offerings of the proposed workshop.
