Novartis is building a new Neuroscience group in our Cambridge, MA, location. The group will leverage the recent expansion in human genetics and brain circuitry data to develop therapeutics in neuropsychiatric disease including Autism, Schizophrenia, and Epilepsy, and in neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s, ALS/FTD, and Parkinson’s. Advanced technologies such as induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS), next generation sequencing, and computational biology will be used to discover new targets and drive projects to the clinic.
We are seeking an experienced researcher to develop and build a dynamic, agile ‘dry-lab’ research environment committed to the discovery of novel medicines for neurological disease, providing critical support to colleagues by working closely with other investigators to develop mechanistic hypotheses underlying cognitive and degenerative disorders. This individual will draw on his/her background investigating the nervous system in either model systems or clinical studies as he/she works collaboratively with programmers, statisticians, and experimentalists to provide high quality, timely analyses of large scale experimental data.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. degree and significant post-graduate experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, neuroscience, cell and developmental biology, or a related field., along with experience in morphometric and electrophysiology data analysis, a demonstrated understanding of statistics and quantitative data analysis, experience with ‘omic data analysis, especially NGS, microarrays and proteomic technologies, and experience with Spotfire and R/Bioconductor.
