[Comp-neuro] Cortical computing primitives

I thought the comp-neuro community might be interested in IARPA's new CCPC RFI, described briefly below.  The complete document is available at http://www.iarpa.gov/RFI/rfi_ccpc.html

Request for Information (RFI) - Cortical Computing Primitives and Connectomics

IARPA-RFI-13-05   OPEN
Posted Date: July 29, 2013
Responses Due: September 30, 2013

Synopsis

The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) is seeking information about the current state of the art in "executable" (i.e. instantiable) models of cortical computing primitives that are supported by known neuroanatomy, as well as strategies for advancing these models based on new and emerging techniques in connectomics. This information may be used to formulate a new program aimed at developing novel machine learning algorithms based on high fidelity representations of cortical microcircuits. The current request for information (RFI) is issued solely for information gathering and planning purposes and does not constitute a formal solicitation for proposals. The following sections of this RFI contain details of the scope of technical areas of interest, along with instructions for the submission of responses.
