[Comp-neuro] postdoctoral position in Mathematicaal Neuroscience

A postdoctoral position is available in the Mathematical Neuroscience Laboratory
http://neuron.unl.edu
at the University of Nebraska. The postdoctoral fellow will join an NSF-funded project for developing a mathematical theory relating structure to function in neuronal networks. The project involves both developing a novel mathematical theory of representation by neuronal networks as well as data-driven investigations.

Qualifications:
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a Ph.D. in
Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, or a closely related area. A background
in algebra/geometry/topology is a plus. Prior experience in Neuroscience
is not absolutely required, however the applicant is expected to be interested in
learning a new field.

For further information feel free to contact prof. Vladimir Itskov at
vitskov2@math.unl.edu. The position start date is flexible, as early as
Jan. 2012. The initial appointment is for two years, and may be renewed
for a third year. Initial consideration of applications will begin on
November 15, 2011. The position is open until filled.

How to apply:
Applicants should submit a CV, a research statement and recommendation letters via
mathjobs website:
