In this position at Sage Bionetworks (www.sagebase.org) you will have
access to region-specific brain transcriptional data and genome-wide
genotype data from >500 brains including >250 schizophrenia brains
(commonmind.org) as well as large Alzheimer's datasets. Ability to
analyze these and similarly large genomic datasets from the
perspective of multiple types of data-driven and literature-based
molecular networks is key to success and rapid publications with the
team at Sage Bionetworks. We are also engaged in multi-modal
neuroscience projects including analysis of structural and functional
imaging in neurodegenerative diseases. Applicants are encouraged to
contribute to these efforts and to develop their own network-based
methodologies and disease applications. Ability to multi-task between
your independent research while rapidly responding to the needs of our
pharmaceutical partners is expected (50/50 time split). This position
is unusual in that you will have a high-degree of independence and
will be expected to make well-informed (both biologically and
methodologically) strategic decisions on analysis of large genomic
neuroscience datasets.
We offer salaries substantially higher than NIH rates.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in computer science, math, bioinformatics, or relevant
quantitative scientific discipline.
2 years of relevant work experience analyzing high-throughput genomics data.
Required Skills:
Domain knowledge of schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease
Proficiency in MATLAB and R
Familiarity with graph theoretic concepts and algorithms
Demonstrated ability to analyze large microarray and RNAseq datasets
Ability to communicate advanced genomic and mathematical concepts to a
broad audience
Track record of innovative publications in neuroscience research
Track record of innovative methodological approaches to high-dimensional data
Desirable Skills:
C++, perl and python
High-performance computing
Whole-genome sequence analysis
Functional and structural neuroimaging analysis
