[Comp-neuro] Invitation to join the Australian Association of Computational Neuroscientists and Neuromorphic Engineers

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite researchers and students based in the Australia and New Zealand region to join the newly established Australian Association of Computational Neuroscientists and Neuromorphic Engineers.

About the Association:  Internationally, computational neuroscience and neuromorphic engineering are well established as significant interdisciplinary research fields. However, there is more limited recognition of their importance in Australia and New Zealand.  We believe it is timely to bring together Australasian researchers with an interest in:

• notification of relevant conferences, events, and opportunities in computational neuroscience and neuromorphic engineering;
• networking with other researchers currently working at the intersection of neuroscience, engineering, mathematics and physics;
• promoting the advancement of computational neuroscience and neuromorphic engineering as broadly recognised fields of research within Australasia.

If you would like to get involved, please register for neuroeng.org.au.  Registered users are kept informed of posts submitted by NeuroEng members and others (e.g. seminars, workshops, conferences and public events). Registration is free and doesn't require personal information other than your full name and institution, which can be updated on your profile.  Here you can also manage your NeuroEng News subscription, by selecting the categories of posts that you wish to receive.

If you would like to become a member of NeuroEng, first register and then email us at admin@neuroeng.org.au. All NeuroEng members are listed on the website and can promote their research interests via links to their personal home page or Google Scholar profile. In your application email, let us know your status (Researcher member, Student member or Other) and, if you wish, you can also provide us with these additional links.  We also have a page for your laboratory or group to be listed.

We are not a formal society with any elected membership or formal governance. Instead, neuroeng.org.au represents a 'meeting place' for the community. We welcome suggestions and have established a Google Groups forum, for those who would like to initiate discussions, either about research or community events.

Please don't forget to submit news items by emailing posts@neuroeng.org.au. These will be posted on the blog and relevant items distributed to the mailing list.

For a current list of members:

• See neuroeng.org.au/wordpress/members/

We welcome the participation of all researchers and students within the community. We encourage you to forward this flyer to colleagues and students who may be interested.

Regards

The Australian Association of Computational Neuroscientists & Neuromorphic Engineers
