[Comp-neuro] Postdoctoral positions in behavioral neurophysiology

Postdoctoral positions in behavioral neurophysiology

The Tactile Perception and Learning Lab (TPLL, www.sissa.it/cns/tactile/),
directed by prof. Mathew E. Diamond, announces the immediate opening of postdoctoral positions.

TPLL is situated in the International School for Advanced Studies (known as SISSA) in Trieste, Italy.
The research is funded by a European Research Council Advanced grant;

salary is competitive and abundant resources are available.

The project will explore  the neuronal basis of tactile perception by

collecting activity with microelectrode arrays from multiple regions

of cerebral cortex in rats as they perform touch-guided behavioral tasks

such as texture classification and vibration working memory.

Manipulating perception through optogenetics is a key aim.

Candidates should have experience in relevant methods

(behavioral training, neurophysiology, optogenetics, computational neuroscience).

SISSA (www.sissa.it), the top-ranked university in Italy, is a small English-speaking institution

that grants only the PhD degree.The three areas of research and training at SISSA are
Neuroscience, Physics, and Mathematics.
