[Comp-neuro] Reminder: 6th European Summer School of Neuroengineering 'Massimo Grattarola' - deadline is approaching!

Dear All,

We would like to remind you of the following event:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6th European Summer School of Neuroengineering ‘Massimo Grattarola’

MICRO AND NANO TECHNOLOGIES FOR NEURONAL SYSTEMS

June 11-15, 2012, Genova, Italy

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The speakers of the school are highly recognized scientists in their respective fields and we expect a true multidisciplinary milieu, exciting lectures and fruitful interactions with the Faculties.

For PhD students, 4 CFU are granted for the attendance of the school.

Please visit our website for further info http://www.neuroengineering.it

GENERAL INFORMATION

The school will focus on the new and rapidly growing areas of neuro-information technologies (neuroinformatics) and neuroengineering, where neuroscience, information technology and engineering merge. The school will be organized by the Faculty of Engineering (University of Genova), by the Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) and by the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK). The proposed topic for the 2012 is the synergic interaction between artificial elements (at the micro/nano scale) and natural neuronal elements constituting the brain.

COURSE CONTENTS

The school will address key topics in the neuroengineering field, with a focus on "micro and nanotechnology for neural systems" and their specific application to develop new devices for brain-machine and neuro-electronic interface and advanced sensory systems. All issues should will be dealt with the biological and the IT/engineering perspective in an interdisciplinary way.

Key topics of the school will include:

  • Novel materials for interacting with cells and systems
  • Nanodevices for neuronal interface applications
  • Neuro-electronic interface
  • Advanced neuro-prosthetics
  • Brain-machine interfaces
