[Comp-neuro] Postdoctoral Research Associate position: Boston University Neuromorphics Lab

The Boston University Neuromorphics Lab (http://nl.bu.edu/) has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The position is funded a one-year position, which is renewable pending availability of future funds.

DUTIES:  The position involves working in close collaboration with computational neuroscientists and industrial partners to design and implement a large-scale neural system to allow an autonomous agent to perceive and act in a virtual environment. Planned developments include biologically-inspired modules for perception, navigation, planning, and motor control. The successful applicant will help to develop one or more of these modules. Strong emphasis will be put on learning, adaptation, autonomy and on models that abide to constraints of parallelism and locality in order to allow scalable implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates should have a PhD in computational neuroscience, computer vision, machine learning or a related field, with a strong background in computational modeling. Proficiency in programming is essential (e.g. Scala, java, C/C++, C#, and/or Matlab), and competence in analytical methods (linear algebra, elementary geometry, differential equations, probability theory) is preferred. Experience with parallel programming is a big plus.
